SH-4d System Program ( Ver.1.02 )

Please install the SH-4d driver before updating.
HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the version of the system working on your SH-4d before downloading the archive file.
  1. Make sure that the power to the unit is turned off, and connect the computer to the connector.
    * When driving by batteries, it is not necessary to connect the computer.
  2. Turn on the power of the SH-4d
  3. Press the [16] button while pressing the [SHIFT] button to display the MENU screen.
  4. Select "INFOMATION" with the [1] or [2] knob and press the [ENTER] button.
    The version will be shown on the display.
  5. Switch off the power.

Additional Functions

  • Added "Voice Reserve" to PATTERN SETTINGS.
  • BUBBLE in VISUAL ARPEGGIO can now be erased.
  • When erasing notes in a RHYTHM Part, you can now choose between erasing all notes or erasing only the notes of the Current Instrument.
  • Changed the category name "Synth Seq/Pop" to "Synth Pluck".

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR SH-4d
  • SH-4d
  • "USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable" supplied with the product
    * The update is carried out with the unit and the computer connected via USB.
    * Cables for charging cannot be used.
  • Computer (Windows or Mac) equipped with a USB port compliant with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.
CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the SH-4d. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your SH-4d while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the SH-4d won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
Please open/extract the downloaded "sh4d_sys_v102.zip" file on your computer to get the "sh4d_sys_v102" folder.
Please make sure you have unzipped the downloaded update file.
PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
  • You must not rename the extracted file.
  • Never turn off the SH-4d's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the SH-4d itself may be destroyed.
 
Please install the extracted system program file into your SH-4d according to the following procedure.
  1. Make sure that the power to the unit is turned off, and connect the computer to the USB TYPE-C port.
  2. Hold down [ SHIFT ] button and turn on the power.
    The SH-4d drive appears on the screen of the computer.
  3. Copy the update program ( SH4d_UPA_up.bin ) to the root folder of the SH-4d drive.
  4. After copying the file is completed, remove the USB drive from the personal computer.
    * Do not disconnect the USB cable after ejecting the USB drive.
    With Windows
    Right-click on the "SH-4d" icon in My Computer and execute "Eject."
    With Mac
    Drag the "SH-4d" icon to the Trash icon in the Dock.
  5. Press [ SHIFT ] button.
    Updating starts and the progress (%) is displayed on the display.
    [ Turn power off ] appears on the display,the update has finished.
    * It takes about 3 minutes for the update to complete.
  6. Turn off the power.
