RD-700NX System Update Version 2.02
This system program updates your RD-700NX to the latest version 2.02.
How to know the version
Before you start, check the system program version of your RD-700NX.
- Hold down [ V-LINK ] and switch on the power.
If this shows the latest version (version 2.02 or later), there’s no need to update your RD-700NX. - After verifying the displayed version, switch off the power.

Bug Fix
[ Ver.1.03 ] - The "System V-Link" and the "System Switch Assign" of System Exclusive message had been misaddressed.
The faults were in both RD-700NX itself and the MIDI implementation.

- Added the parameter "Clock Out" in "System Settings."
This parameter can control ON/OFF setting for transmitting the F8(Timing Clock) message. RD-700NX had transmitted it at any time.
- Alleviated the feelings of the tone interruption when performing with layered tones using combinations of Piano and Strings.
- The following bug is fixed.
- When receiving the Data Request (RQ1) messages of the System Exclusive messages, the requested data was not output.
What you will need to update your RD-700NX
- RD-700NX
- USB Memory ( Roland's M-UF2G is recommended )
* The USB Memory need to be formatted on a RD-700NX. - A computer with a USB connector (Windows XP/Vista/7, MacOS X v10.4.3 or later)

Cautions with the update
- When you perform this update, it will initialize your Live Set that was saved in the User bank.
You should save the Live Set on a USB memory before you perform the update.

- We recommend that you back up your Live Set files and Songs stored in the internal memory to a USB memory before you perform the update although RD-700NX keeps the data with normal updating.

- Never apply this update data to any product other than the RD-700NX. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never power-off your RD-700NX while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the RD-700NX won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs. - We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
Getting the update file
Please open/extract the downloaded “rd700nx_sys_v202.zip” file on your computer to get the update files in the “R028_RD700NX” folder.
Procedure for the update
- Copy the entire folder containing the RD-700NX update data (R028_RD700NX) to the root directory of the formatted USB Memory, and then detach the device from the computer.
- Leaving the power to the RD-700NX switched off; connect the USB Memory to the USB MEMORY port.
- Hold down [MENU] and [WRITE] and switch on the power to the unit. The update starts. Wait several minutes. When “Completed.” is displayed, the operation is finished.
* Never switch off the power or detach the USB Memory before Completed. Is displayed. Doing so may damage the USB Memory and make it unusable. - Detach the USB Memory and switch off the power to the unit.
